The day begins by an early pick-up from your lodge, around 06h0, in Arusha. The distance to Ngorongoro entry gate is three hours, 180 kilometers west of Arusha.  After obtaining the entry permit you will descend into the crater for tour. This is the world’s largest inactive, intact and unfilled volcanic caldera with a floor area of 260 square kilometers and 610 meters deep. Ngorongoro crater is home to thousands of large mammals including rhinoceros, elephants, buffalos, wildebeests, lions, hyenas and many others. Birds are also well represented in the crater; ostriches, flamingoes and other birds are easily sported in the park.

At around midday picnic lunch will be served at Ngoitoktok picnic site; with views of hippopotamuses in Ngoitoktok Lake. You will then be driven back to your lodge in the evening.
