This 3-day safari in Mikumi from Zanzibar suits travelers spending their vacations on the archipelago of Zanzibar in the Indian Ocean. Guests will get a chance to visit Mikumi National Park and experience the taste of African savannah wildlife; a nature escape from the beachy Zanzibar archipelago. Mikumi National Park is the hidden gem among the Tanzanian national parks; the density and diversity of wildlife there are worth a visit. The tour includes managed transfers from and back to your lodge in Zanzibar.
The adventure starts with an early morning pick-up from your lodge. You will meet Tanzania Offroad Trips driver very early in the morning at your lodge in Zanzibar and head from your lodge to the port of Zanzibar where you will board the boat to Dar es Salaam. You will cross the Indian Ocean by the morning boat. You will depart at 7:00 a.m. and meet your guide at the port of Dar es Salaam. The road trip from Dar es Salaam port to Mikumi National Park via Morogoro town takes between 5-6 hours, including a break for a hot lunch in Morogoro town.
On arrival in Mikumi, at around 2:00 pm, you will continue with a safari in Mikumi National Park until 6:00 pm when you will retreat to Camp Atupele Lodge for an overnight stay.
You will have an early breakfast is served at the lodge then the game drive begins. Mikumi National Park is also referred to as a hidden gem of Tanzania due to its diverse African savannah wildlife richness. The exploration of the park will be characterized by two peaks; morning and evening game drives, due to high animal visibility and light balance for better photographs. There will be a midday break for a picnic lunch at an established site in the park. You will return to the lodge in the evening for an overnight stay at Camp Atupele Lodge.
On this final day of the safari in Mikumi from Zanzibar, you will have an early breakfast at Camp Atupele Lodge then head to a Maasai Boma (traditional Maasai nomads village) for a chat with the famous pastoralists. The activity includes traditional entertainment; singing and dancing and a narrative, by the elder, of the nomads’ lifestyle. After the experience in the nomads’ village, the safari starts towards Dar es Salaam port where you will take the evening boat, departing at 4:00 pm, and sail back to your lodge in Zanzibar. The taxi driver will pick you up from the port of Zanzibar and drive you back to your lodge.
